Position Summary
The Senior Accounting Manager leads the Finance Department’s daily operations and oversees all core accounting functions. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and compliance with regulatory and funding requirements, while advancing ROI’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values—including our commitment to diversity, inclusiveness, and anti-racism.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Lead, mentor, and supervise Finance Department staff, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, reconciliations, internal audits, and representative payee services.

Oversee day-to-day accounting operations to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with GAAP and internal control standards.

Coordinate and participate in all organizational audit activities, serving as a primary liaison with external auditors.

Prepare monthly and annual financial statements, including variance analyses and explanations for leadership.

Provide accounting education, guidance, and technical support to managers and staff across the organization.

Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of accounting policies, procedures, and best practices.

Conduct internal audits and financial reviews to strengthen controls and operational efficiency.

Manage financial relationships with funders, government agencies, and vendors as assigned.

Complete special projects, financial analyses, and data requests as needed.
Qualifications
-
Minimum of five (5) years of professional accounting experience.

At least two (2) years of supervisory or management experience.

Demonstrated experience with nonprofit accounting, including grant and contract compliance.

Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
Preferred Qualifications
-
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA).
