GLCATR EDUCATIONAL & BEHAVIOR ANALYSIS SUPPORT SPECIALIST
REPORTS TO: Intensive Behavior Analyst I
SUPERVISES: Provides on-shift direction of Intensive Residential Technicians I and II
FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt
Starting Wage: $25.10 per hour, adjusted for relevant work experience and education.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Support families and individuals served by the Great Lakes Center for Autism Treatment and Research (GLCATR) in making day-to-day choices that lead to greater independence and community participation. Assist in the coordination of and development of and provide one-on-one instruction and support to children, adolescents and adults with autism and other developmental disabilities served by GLCATR in the context of the established treatment plan, the behavior analytic skills assessment, and the family goals while at the center and in preparation for return back to the home. Provide personal and/or medical assistance as needed, teach and role model appropriate behaviors and daily living skills, and provide behavior management assistance. Understand the likes, dislikes, hopes and dreams of persons receiving services to support them as they make choices and progress toward their goals. Ensure effective and efficient operation of the program during the time in which he/she is on shift, and ensure the appropriate training of all relevant staff in the absence of the GLCATR Assistant Program Coordinators, GLCATR Program Coordinator, or GLCATR BCBAs. Perform all duties in accordance with overall program goals, agency policy and procedure and all applicable state, federal, and local laws and/or regulations. Implement responsibilities and other actions in accordance with ROI’s Core Values and Vision and Mission Statements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Establish a collaborative relationship with individuals served, families, and staff.
- Embrace and support ROI’s philosophies related to diversity, inclusiveness and anti-racism and work to ensure ROI’s commitment to being an anti-racist organization.
- Assist in oversight of service plan and behavior plan delivery by Intensive Residential Technician Is and IIs to ensure all services are delivered consistent with identified goals in the treatment plan and IPOS.
- Successfully assume leadership/supervisory role within the Program in the absence of the BCBA or other program supervisors, while maintaining the same standards, expectations, and objectives.
- Complete documentation, including financial, billing, program, research, and agency-related data, as required by ROI policy and procedure and Supervisor’s instructions. Assist with development and Implement behavioral protocols and behavior management intervention procedures based on the assessment and treatment plan.
- Assist in training Intensive Residential Technicians to ensure all services are delivered consistent with identified goals in the PCP, behavior plan and skill acquisition programming. IEP and other educational and vocational skills.
- Completes requirement for BCaBA/BCBA supervision as outlined by the BACB, including but not limited to, completing direct and indirect hours, meeting with BCBA supervisor at least bi-weekly, completing assigned tasks in a timely manner, tracking supervision hours and maintaining required documentation from the university program and/or BACB guidelines.
- Teach and support persons served to complete daily living skills as independently as possible, and assist or perform these tasks if the person served cannot do so independently.
- Through role modeling and teaching, support persons served to develop appropriate friendships and other meaningful relationships.
- Administer medications according to ROI procedures.
- Maintain inventory and ensure the supply of program implementation materials and data collection supplies necessary for therapy sessions.
- Adhere to the Professional and Ethical Compliance Code of the Behavior Analysis Certification Board
- Acquire competence and/or perform the duties and tasks as outlined by the Behavior Analysis Certification Board current task list.
- Assist in the activities necessary for research projects and provide assistance for preparing/presenting research outcomes.
- Report to shifts, meetings, and trainings as scheduled and remain fully alert at all times.
- Inform supervisor of problems or issues regarding persons served, their families, or their environment.
- General upkeep of the workplace, equipment, and vehicles to ROI standards.
- Promote a positive image of ROI.
- Display responsible, conscientious behavior, and use good judgment in making decisions.
- Facilitate teamwork between all team members via open communication, sharing of responsibilities, and a positive, constructive attitude.
- Demonstrate flexibility as work schedules will be adjusted as necessary to meet the needs of the individuals ROI supports.
- Transport persons served as necessary
- Comply with all laws and regulations regarding reporting suspected abuse and neglect of vulnerable persons.
- Maintain the confidentiality of all restricted information, data and reports.
- Complete all other tasks as assigned by the Intensive Treatment Behavior Analyst I, Intensive Treatment Manager, Licensed Settings Clinical Supervisor, Clinical Director, and Executive Director of Autism Services.
QUALIFICATIONS: 18 years of age or older. Excellent organizational, communication, presentation, and problem-solving skills. Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively with staff, individuals served, interdisciplinary team members, and families. Ability to achieve and maintain required training and certification to include but not limited to: ROI agency training, medication certification, 1st Aid & CPR certification; and physical intervention techniques certification. Ability to: pass background check screening; arrive on time and as scheduled to the work site; physically manage persons served; assist with a wide array of physical needs; follow oral and written instruction; operate basic appliances and office equipment; and work independently in the absence of direct supervision. Good verbal / written communication and computer skills.
PREFERRED: Six months experience in GLC Licensed Settings program. Approved driver status as determined by ROI.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree and enrollment in GLC approved BCBA program or actively accruing supervision hours to complete BCaBA or BCBA certification per the BACB’s guidelines.
